We are launching a Parents and Supporters’ webinar series aimed at those with year 12s and year 13s considering their options and preparing for going to university. Whether you went to university or not, this is your first or third child to go to university or your young person is undecided about whether to go to university, start paid employment straight after college, do a gap year or explore degree apprenticeships, we hope these sessions will offer further insights and support to you. Discover Winchester is a new scheme designed to provide additional support to applicants from specific backgrounds, who may have faced additional challenges in their lives and might otherwise struggle to access higher education.

Some of our courses offer a Pathways Programme where you have the opportunity to engage in a series of practical and informative sessions led by our academic team.
Eligible applicants who complete the programme may receive a contextual offer (one grade lower than the typical offer).
Our Pathways Programmes are designed to give you an introduction to your subject and life at the University of Winchester before you arrive. As part of the Programme, you may:
• Attend interactive taster lectures/seminars on a variety of relevant topics
• Experience practical exercises/activities
• Receive personalised career guidance and advice from relevant professionals
• Request optional interview experience with a Dean of Faculty or Head of Department

The Pathways to Law, Crime & Justice programme is an opportunity for prospective law, criminology, forensics and policing students to engage in a series of practical and informative sessions delivered by academics and practitioners at the Faculty of Law, Crime and Justice.
These programmes give you a chance to have a taster day at Winchester on the course you’re interested in and the opportunity to receive reduced entry requirements*.
*Places will be confirmed at 96 points on the condition that the student has engaged with a pathways programme.

‘On Campus with…’ is a new podcast which features academics from the University of Winchester. In season one, we will discuss topics ranging from, the importance of duct tape, high altitude bogs in the Cairngorms and the little line in a fraction.
Your hosts are Lucy Dixon and Ellie Price, who have over 20 years combined experience in the education sector. They are here to provide a platform for academics to share the journeys and inspirations behind their research.
This podcast is suitable for everyone! Students from 16 years and up, teachers at all levels, parents of students, or quite simply, anyone with an interest in the particular topics we cover.
24 questions in 2024 - In this series, an array of guests including students, lecturers, staff and alumni answer 24 questions about their studies and career to date, what they’ve learnt along the way and the advice they would share with those just starting out on their career journey.
Overview: The free summer school offers Year 12 students the opportunity to experience student life in the vibrant city of Bristol. Participants will stay in university accommodation and participate in academic seminars and social activities supported by current undergraduate students. They will meet student societies and learn more about what university life is really like. This programme combines a mixture of virtual and in-person activities to maximise opportunities.
Eligibility: For students who identify as Asian, Black or mixed heritage featuring one of these groups or belong to other global majority backgrounds (meaning students from Arab, Latin-American, Mixed, and Multiple-Ethnic backgrounds). Open to students studying in Year 12 in England or Wales, Year 13 in Northern Ireland, or S5 in Scotland (or equivalent). Students must also attend, and have always attended, a state-funded school or college (non-fee paying) in the UK.

The Sutton Trust Summer School Programme offers school-age students the opportunity to immerse themselves in university life. Students will walk away with the confidence and skills needed to choose where to apply and what to study, be competitive applicants wherever that is, and find support with a network of like-minded peers.

Alongside the in-person programme, every student will have access to long-term support with university applications via our online portal STO.
All costs including travel, accommodation, food and activities are covered by the Trust and our partners which means it is completely free of charge for students to attend.

As a global institution, Bayes Business School aims to foster greater racial diversity in business. It is offering up to ten scholarships each year for Black UK-domiciled undergraduate students from lower- income households. Each scholarship covers the full tuition fee (at home-fee level) and a £6,000 annual stipend for three years. Scholarship holders will also be offered mentoring and support.
Applicants must apply to City St George's University via UCAS, by 29th January 2025, and submit their application for the scholarship no later than Sunday 16th March 2025.

Our first open day of the new academic year took place on Saturday 12 October, where we welcomed prospective students and their families. We had wonderful presentations from Head of Students Sam, and Norlander Freja, as well as our Principal Dr Janet Rose.
Our next in-person open day will be on 17 May 2025. Bookings are now live on our website, our events book up fast so don't miss out!
These are summer schools at various top Universities that run over 4 or 5 days where students get a taster of university life and an insight into a specific STEM subject. Students will get the opportunity to experience university style lectures and work on activities and group projects with the support of academics and student mentors. Students will stay in halls of residence and will take part in social activities in the evenings, so that they get the full university experience.
