TERM 2 VALUE:
Integrity
Dear Students, Parents and Carers,
Our students at St Brendan’s continue to inspire us every single day. Whether in the classroom, in college events, or out in our wider community, they show a level of focus, commitment and maturity that truly reflects the diverse talent within our college. We are incredibly proud of each and every one of you.
In recent weeks, students have been busy across so many areas of college life. From helping to organise our charitable activities - including our Christmas Hamper appeal - to achieving academic success and showcasing creative work across the college, your contributions make St Brendan’s such a special place. A huge congratulations goes to our Maths students who took part in the Senior Maths Challenge. They did both themselves and the college exceptionally proud and have now progressed to the next stage - an amazing achievement and a testament to their hard work. We also celebrate our Geography team, who recently took part in a ground-breaking Drone Workshop, making us the first Sixth Form College in the UK to offer this opportunity. This kind of innovation and forward-thinking is exactly what helps our students thrive in an ever-changing world.
And, of course, we cannot wait to share in the musical talent of our students at our sold out Winter Gig on Wednesday 3 December from 6pm. It promises to be a wonderful evening full of creativity, joy and community.
Many of our Year 12 and Year 13 students have recently sat mock examinations. We know exams can feel overwhelming at times, and we encourage any student feeling anxious to reach out to their Progress Tutor or the Welfare team. To ensure our Year 13 students receive timely and meaningful feedback from their Mock exams, Thursday 4 and Friday 5 December will be remote learning days for Year 13. Students will complete work independently - an important skill as they prepare for their next steps beyond St Brendan’s.
Over the next few weeks, all students will be contributing to our Christmas Hamper Appeal, as outlined in last week’s bulletin. This initiative is a powerful expression of some our College values, service, justice and compassion, and helps us support local families who may be facing a difficult Christmas. Thank you in advance for your generosity and kindness.
As we move into the final stretch of the term, please know that we are proud of you, your achievements, your character, and the way you support one another. Thank you for everything you bring to St Brendan’s

As the countdown begins, there's lots of Christmas activities to get involved with thanks to our wonderful student union!
It may be a bit early but it is so dark and cold out there that we couldn't help putting the LRC tree up early. A huge thank you to the Student Ambassadors who did a great job decorating the LRC last Monday!
There are opportunities to take part in activities such as BOOK CLUB or WRITING GROUP as well as become the student voice for the LRC. If you would like to know more, come along to one of the craft sessions in December or join the Book Club group on Teams.
Help wanted to make paper snowflakes ❄️
We will finish decorating the LRC next week by making paper snowflakes to decorate the glass wall and windows, so if you fancy doing some mindful crafts come along to one of these sessions:
If you cannot make it to these sessions, from Friday there will be spare snowflakes by the stationary trolley to make in your own time.

If you'd like to take part you can either turn up on the day, or email bwi@stbrn.ac.uk to be added to the Teams page.
The College takes the safety of students and staff very seriously. Students should not invite friends who do not attend St Brendan’s onto the site and must wear their student lanyard and ID at all times on campus. (Students should obtain a temporary student lanyard from the main reception if they do not have their ID card with them.) Our campus personal , Frank and Blessing, patrol the site and can be approached if any student is concerned about their own safety or the safety of others.
Attendance is crucial for success, particularly during these initial weeks. For our Year 12, ATL3 and Year 13 students, please be aware that we will be closely monitoring attendance. Maintaining regular attendance is important, as it impacts your ability to remain enrolled on your courses. Should there be concerns about your attendance falling below our threshold during the first three weeks, it may affect your place at St Brendan’s.
We are here to support you through these transitions and ensure that your time at St Brendan's is both successful and enjoyable. Our staff, including teachers, progress tutors, inclusive learning team, careers team, mental health team and the senior team, are here to help with any concerns or queries that you may have.
St Brendan's is a cashless campus so please make sure you have a card and/or contactless payment on your phone.
