With an upcoming Bank Holiday there is an opportunity for a bit of relaxation and fun. It's especially important for those with key assessments to take a moment to decompress and clear your head. Below are some events that might offer a few hours of break, some to leave the house and some virtual Covid-safe ideas too!

1. Bristol Walk Fest 🏃

Bristol Walk Fest kicks off on the 1st of May and will be profiling digital excursions as well as guided and themed walks. It's on all month, to find out more click here

2. Bergamotte Pop-up Jungle 🌵🌻

There is a Bergamotte Pop-up Jungle at Paintworks from today to Tuesday, for any plant lovers! Entry is free but you can also purchase plants if you'd like! For more info click here

3. SS Great Britain Educational Talks 📚

SS Great Britain are beginning educational talks on suggested donation. The first in their series is at lunchtime tomorrow, but can be attended virtually and you can also follow further updates at this link

St. George's Bristol are offering Orfic's on-demand Jazz performance from now until May 7th, accessible here

5. Sherlock in Homes 🕵️

I've previously mentioned 'Sherlock in Homes', an interactive Zoom murder mystery, but many of their live sessions are only available until the end of the Bank Holiday so don't miss out! Particularly good for families and some more info here and here

6. Bristol Parks 🌲

With both sun and rain forecast it's a perfect weekend for gardening, but also hitting up Bristol's many parks and green spaces. Ashton Court, Snuff Mills, Jekka's, Leigh Woods, Queen's Square, Arnos Vale, Troopers Hill, Blaise Castle, University Botanic Gardens, Westonbirt Arboretum, The Downs - the list goes on but there's plenty of free areas waiting for a wander, a picnic, or some sports or games!

7. Poetry Extravaganza hosted by Meryl Streep! ✨

And last from me is a poetry extravaganza live stream hosted by Meryl Streep that's free to join. An American event so very late at night, but for poetry fans may be worth a sign up in case it's possible to get a recording of the event as it looks very special! More info here
